WHERE IS JSBLC

In 10+ years of touring experience Ive learned alot about the rights and actions involves in artists’ careers, mine and others, and it is really important to me to make sure that I am apart of shaping the future of the music business. Lately Ive been spending ALOT of time fusing my inner entreprenuer, educator, and musician at the same time on a project I co-founded with friend Matt Urmy called Artist Growth. It’s here! The release of the Babylon video in support of Take These Days. We have accomplished so much over the last year or two, from touring to breaking world records, national television placements, new EPs television appearances, SXSW, and so much more. The day I signed with an agent, was picked up by management, and signed a publishing deals were all huge days for me personally in terms of me accomplishing a goal, but shooting this video really beats all of that. It was just a few weeks ago when folks drove hundreds of miles to be in this video just because they believed in us and our hard work. All of those accomplishments were personal goals that were met, but the video stood out to me because in that moment I realized how many people were actually a part of the journey WITH me and the Big Love Choir, so it isnt just about us, it was a chance for supporters to physically participate ….and they stepped up and did it, and it was fun. My bud’s Pat, Jordan, Ryan, and Rusty stood there for 8 hours and caught me jumping off stage. Others came and went, but they were there the whole time and I KNEW they wouldn’t drop me, and I had nothing to worry about. Thanks guys, because that really segways to the real point of all this.

The Spirit I refer to in the song is no more, no less than “that which connects us all” and friendship is a beautiful manifestation of that. The people coming and supporting and loving and watching, and buying, and traveling, and sharing,, and listening are all doing the same thing…they are my real world experience of the spirit picking me up and helping me squash my own fears, problems, and insecurities, and being the me that I was born to be…Thank you to you all, I literally would crumble without your support and I hope you enjoy this video as much as I do..

Over the last few years, I’ve committed to the dream, the dream of self suffiency and the dream of playing music. A big reason for that is, as most of you know, I believe music is more than entertainment and escape (both noble pursuits) but not my calling neccesarily. To me music is a healer, its food, water, and shelter for your emotions, your story, a way to connect your experiences with that of others, often when they need it the most..which leaves all kinds of play room for the divine..but I’ll go down that wormhole in my next blogpost  about this great new book “Change Your Conversation”.

This Post is dedicated to the Fine folks at Musicians on Call who were kind enough to let me where their badge and escort me around Vanderbilt Medical Center’s Children’s hospital with my guitar, and put music in the room with families that need a lift, a song, or more than anything….a break from whatever it is they are dealing with.

It stirred up all sorts of things that I’ll spread out over my experiences there, but all in all the magic is in walking in the door, and seeing a few people who are  so glad that you aren’t another doctore, another shot, another pill, another cup of Jello. You are bringing something just as vital to healing, which can be seen by the smile on their faces and that is SONGS.

This experience made my month, and its funny how the mental chatter and anxiety just falls away when you are giving your time to something worthwhile and good for others…Big Love!!

I’ve always heard and read that ,vibrationally ,Postive thoughts are much more powerful than a negative thought, so one really positive thought can wipe away all the negativity in your energy field. This reminds me of that movie Hook where Robin Williams is Peter Pan and he has to have one happy thought to fly and he cant do it for half the movie until he gets in a food fight.

Well by the end of this many thousand mile run, we were pretty tired and I think everyone was daydreaming about their own bed a little bit, which is all cool, but the second we opened the band and pulled up to the door at Callaghans in Mobile, AL and were greeted by JT, it changed. If we were lost boys (and maybe we are) We wouldve flew…the show was great (and most of them were) but every now and then a gig has a little extra magic on it and it did and the POINT of ALL was to say, we all were left driving home the next day…wishing we were driving to the next stop on the tour…but you can only be the places you are…so soon. Thanks everyone for the great run through AL and GA
